Fancy feet

It's party season, and with New Year coming up it's time to get those feet looking good!
You won't need a new dress with these delights, and will just have to do something fantastic with that hair to get people to look somewhere other than your feet.
Enjoy...

...and I am a Material Girl!

In the summer I was lucky enough to see the new fashion line created by Madonna and her daughter Lordes just a few days after it opened in Macy's in New York.
I have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect but I actually really liked it. The collection has an extremely edgy, young vibe, but looking through the clothes, most could definitely be pulled off by an older audience.
I think it's clear straight away that the designs have been created by Madonna, the original Material Girl, and her daughter, who is fast becoming her mother. Known for her provocative and grungy style, Madonna has always been pictured in black, leather and lace amongst other exciting, fashion conscious and out-there pieces, and whilst the collection is of a slightly more conservative direction, due to it being aimed at teenage girls, the key trends and fabrics reflect this style.
And as for the price, its far more competitive and economical than I thought it would be.
So who knows, maybe we'll be seeing some of this over in England sometime soon, although it would be coming into a particluarly competitive market.

And it was New York, New York

So I was meant to be off to New York with the family today to spend a couple of days in one of my favourite cities (close call between NYC and London!) before moving on for Christmas, but due to this unfortunately large amount of snow and ice that has hit us, our flight was cancelled and so the next few days will be spent at home praying our arranged flight will go ahead! In the mean time, here are a few piccies from the infamous Big Apple that I came across and truly love...

Margiela designs...

So all term now I've been working on a project designing a collection for Maison Martin Margiela. After a lot of hard work and long nights this is the outcome...

The collection is inspired by the contrast between stuctured, archiectural man-made lines and shapes and the more fluid forms of movement within nature and the environment. I have tried to retain many of the prominent features of Margiela's style and ethos so as not to stray too far from the infamous fashion house's work whilst giving it my own twist.

LBD on a student budget

So we all now, as students, that budgets are tight, and at this time of year it's hard to feel we can treat ourselves. So here are a few suggestions I've found of those little black dresses that are popular right now, all for under £30 and perfect for that christmas party. Enjoy (I know I've got my eye on a couple)!

Beautiful Birtwell

So I'm currently researching Celia Birtwell for a project at uni and I came across this stunning photo of her wearing Ossie Clark.
I love everything about this photo, from the position in which she's sat, to the simplicity of the background contrasting with the patterned clothing. The lighting is fantastic and I applaud the photographer who took the picture, just beautiful!

Getting Started...

Blogging has always seen like an exciting thing to me, for a while I've wanted to try my hand at it, and now that I've finally set up my own blog it's something I can cross off the list.
I want to use this space as my own personal inspiration board, where I can share with others and they can share with me.
So let's get started... x
